The annual friendly between Alloa BC and ourselves took place at Alloa BC this year on Saturday 24th August.
It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the achievement of Hamilton BC players on succeeding to bring this trophy back to Hamilton BC, long awaited since 2017. Congratulations to all who participated in the game and thank you to all the groupies who attended to support our wonderful team.

LADIES INVITATION PAIRS TOURNAMENT
The Ladies Section Invitation Pairs Tournament held on Saturday 10th August 2024 & sponsored by member Margaret Baird, the first for several years was well represented by clubs from the area attracting, 24 teams. The day started very wet but after the first game the sun came out and remained out the rest of the day which resulted in very pleasant conditions for the tournament. Competition was as expected, fierce but played in the wholehearted ethos of the game in fellowship. Friendships were renewed and new friends made. Congratulations to Ladies Secretary Anne Loudon and her team for organising such a wonderful day. Thanks goes to the caterers for a wonderful lunch and evening meal. Thanks also to the male members who assisted with setting up the green for play, helping with keeping the scores staffing the bar and keeping us watered throughout the day.
The runners up Semi Finalists were from Orbiston BC and Hamilton BC.
A great final was played out between Hamilton 'Caley BC and Lesmahagow BC with the overall winners on the day hailing from Hamilton 'Caley BC.
Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners up. A huge thank you to club members and visitors who took part.

Another Competition under our belt for this season (2024). Eight teams competed in the friendly manner that our club is renowned for in a morning of dry warm weather. It was a pity come afternoon and the final when the rain descended upon us but the players fought on bravely.
Congratulations to Fraser & Bill who beat George Davenport & Peter Preston in the final, commiserations to them.
Thanks goes to all the players who participated in the competition as going without saying these games will not last if you the members do not participate.

This new competition proved to be a great success with two club teams of 8 competing throughout the day in various formats of Rinks, Triples, Pairs & Singles.
It was played in great spirit with laughs and banter all day.
A light lunch was prepared and served up by Linda Sneddon & Linda Harley so a thank you to you ladies.
The weather could not have been better all day.
There were prizes for the winning team of bottles donated by the losing Captain Douglas Scott and Prize money Sponsored by 'Lanarkshire Law'.
A raffle was held courtesy of donations from Fraser Lawson.
The day was rounded of in a jovial manner with a couple of libations.

Gents Club Balloted Pairs 2024

We were entertained to another great day of bowling on Saturday 15th June when the Gents Section played their Club Balloted Pairs.
The weather although threatening at times remained dry adding to the days enjoyment.
As usual there was plenty banter forging the fellowship and friendship within the club.
The tightly contested final was won by Alex Murray & Gordon Dall who narrowly beat Fraser Lawson & John Anderson by one shot.

Outing to Douglas Victoria BC for our Club Social Day.
Saturday 8th June 2024
An excellent day of fellowship and great hospitality was afforded to our members and friends when we travelled to Douglas Victoria BC for our Social Day. We were treated with the usual Douglas hospitality on arrival with a drink , Strawberries dipped in chocolate and other goodies. we played promiscuous bowls, had fun and games followed by an excellent repast provided and served by Tom Kirkland & Robert Barcley. Our thanks goes to President Billy Smith of Douglas Victoria BC and his members for an enjoyable day. The theme for the day was to dress up from a musical film and several of the Douglas members appeared as Nuns (that included the men) from 'Sound of Music. Not to be outdone I am pleased that our ladies' got into the mood by appearing as 'Pink Ladies & John Travolta' from 'Grease' (Linda Harley, Betty Braidwood and Carlyn Smith) and also Linda Sneddon who appeared as Liesl from 'Sound of Music'. see photos

The Walter Jackson Trophy, a Gents singles competition took place on Tuesday 21st May. This Competition was held over from season 2023 and was played between Jim Gibb and Doug. Beattie. It was great game played in the spirit of fellowship and in glorious weather. The winner on the day was Jim Gibb & to him congratulations and to the runner up Doug. Beattie commiserations. Both threw some great bowls throughout the game.

Invitation Mixed Rink's ' Charity ' Tournament
Saturday 11th May 2024
Once again the Club organised and ran this tournament in aid of raising funds towards
Musical Memories - Dementia Choir - Hamilton
which is is an independant, self-funded, singing group for people living with a dementia diagnosis accompanied by a carer, family member or friend. Our members come from all over the Lanarkshire area.

The day was enjoyed by 56 Playing Bowlers and a good turnout of spectators on one of the sunniest and warmest days of the year.
The playing tournament consisted of teams from the Club and visiting clubs from around the region. Semi Finalists were teams from Hamilton BC v Coalburn and Hamilton BC v Chryston BC. The final was played in the good spirit of bowling throughout between Chryston and Hamilton. Congratulations to Hamilton BC winning team and commiserations to Chryston BC (who have won this tournament on several occasions in years gone by).
