Annual Friendly with Alloa B.C @ Hamilton B.C 2025

A wonderful days bowling hosting friends from Alloa B.C. First class weather helped to enjoy the day. After an afternoon of bowling we sat down to an excellent Buffet meal thanks to
Linda Sneddon, Rosemary Douglas & Meg Lawson.
Seen above are the club Presidents Colin Ireland (Alloa B.C) & Lillian Thomson (HBC).
I'm pleased to say that Hamilton B.C retained the Trophy for another year.
Well done and congratulations to all the players from both clubs and thanks to all who came along to support and watch some excellent bowling.

The sun shone on the righteous with only a couple of small showers
This Tournament was played in reasonable good weather, nothing that would deter the ladies from continuing their game. It was played in the spirit of Bowling where friendships were renewed and new friends made.
The semi finals went down to the wire with Orbiston BC & Chapelton BC having to play an extra end as both teams tied. The other semi finalists were Bellshill/Mossend & Hunter Ladies 1.
Then in the finals the same again both teams, Orbiston BC & Bellshill/Mossend on 5 each after five ends so once again another extra end which added to the enjoyment if the many spectators who remained behind to watch the final.
Thanks to all who assisted on the day helping for everything to run smoothly. Thanks to the Caterers for an excellent lunch and evening meal

Thursday 24th July 2025 was another night of bowling in good weather conditions.
It was great to meet up with members of Hamilton 'Caley BC renewing and making new friends.
Unfortunately we only won one game out of five but in the words of our worthy opponents we only lost by ONE shot? .
Therefore the Trophy must return again down the road.
There is always next year to look forwards to.

This competition spread over 5 games initially started in June when we managed to play Two games before the heavens opened and the game had to be postponed.
On Saturday 19th July the same teams commenced where they had left off and played the remaining Three games.
The weather once again threatened but remained dry for that morning.
Commiserations to all who took part in the competition particularly the runners up who fought on bravely, John Robertson & his Skip Doug. Beattie.

On Sunday 30 June 2025 we hosted visitors from 'Cardonald Tourers'. Weather was brilliant which helped getting in a few ends of bowls. On there arrival treated to a light lunch of Tea/Coffee and sandwiches. After the Bowling everyone enjoyed an excellent two course hot buffet prepared by Linda Sneddon. Reports from Members and visitors alike have been positive.
The 'Tourers' hope to repeat the visit at some time in the future and thank all our members for their friendliness and hospitality

GENTS TWO BOWL SINGLES COMPETITION
Saturday 24th May 2025
The weather was dreech but playable. An enjoyable morning of Bowls with a tightly fought competition. Commiserations to those who took part but played an excellent game. the Final was played out between Fraser Lawson and Scott Hamilton. They tied after six ends with three shots each. An extra end was payed and Scott won the Trophy by one shot. Congratulations to Scott Hamilton

A fantastic day was had by all with 14 teams competing. Runners up was a Team Skipped by Dougie McIntosh representing Hamilton but the overall winners on the day was a team skipped by Billy Stewart from COALBURN, congratulations to them.. Top Raffle Prize donated by Wm Grant & Sons was L Drennan from Uddingston BC and the second prize was won by Bill Tayler from 'Caley BC.
The weather was really good . Thanks to our Caterers 'Liz' from Law BC and thanks to our bar staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day keeping everyone hydrated. Thanks to everyone who competed winners and losers all. It is not a game without you..

Ladies Invitation Fellowship 2025
The Ladies section hosted, and Club President Lillian Thomson, welcomed 27 visitors from various clubs throughout the region. The weather was very kind to them remaining sunny and reasonably warm. After a few ends of bowls to start of the season the ladies enjoyed a Buffet Meal and a few refreshments.
Thanks goes to the Caterers and the Bar Staff and to everyone who worked behind the scenes making it a successful day.

The annual friendly between Alloa BC and ourselves took place at Alloa BC this year on Saturday 24th August.
It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the achievement of Hamilton BC players on succeeding to bring this trophy back to Hamilton BC, long awaited since 2017. Congratulations to all who participated in the game and thank you to all the groupies who attended to support our wonderful team.

A fantastic day was held at the club and as can be seen from the photographs below enjoyed by everyone in attendance. These are only a sample of photos taken on the day. LADIES INVITATION PAIRS TOURNAMENT
The Ladies Section Invitation Pairs Tournament held on Saturday 10th August 2024 & sponsored by member Margaret Baird, the first for several years was well represented by clubs from the area attracting, 24 teams. The day started very wet but after the first game the sun came out and remained out the rest of the day which resulted in very pleasant conditions for the tournament. Competition was as expected, fierce but played in the wholehearted ethos of the game in fellowship. Friendships were renewed and new friends made. Congratulations to Ladies Secretary Anne Loudon and her team for organising such a wonderful day. Thanks goes to the caterers for a wonderful lunch and evening meal. Thanks also to the male members who assisted with setting up the green for play, helping with keeping the scores staffing the bar and keeping us watered throughout the day.
The runners up Semi Finalists were from Orbiston BC and Hamilton BC.
A great final was played out between Hamilton 'Caley BC and Lesmahagow BC with the overall winners on the day hailing from Hamilton 'Caley BC.
Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners up. A huge thank you to club members and visitors who took part.

Another Competition under our belt for this season (2024). Eight teams competed in the friendly manner that our club is renowned for in a morning of dry warm weather. It was a pity come afternoon and the final when the rain descended upon us but the players fought on bravely.
Congratulations to Fraser & Bill who beat George Davenport & Peter Preston in the final, commiserations to them.
Thanks goes to all the players who participated in the competition as going without saying these games will not last if you the members do not participate.

This new competition proved to be a great success with two club teams of 8 competing throughout the day in various formats of Rinks, Triples, Pairs & Singles.
It was played in great spirit with laughs and banter all day.
A light lunch was prepared and served up by Linda Sneddon & Linda Harley so a thank you to you ladies.
The weather could not have been better all day.
There were prizes for the winning team of bottles donated by the losing Captain Douglas Scott and Prize money Sponsored by 'Lanarkshire Law'.
A raffle was held courtesy of donations from Fraser Lawson.
The day was rounded of in a jovial manner with a couple of libations.

We were entertained to another great day of bowling on Saturday 15th June when the Gents Section played their Club Balloted Pairs.
The weather although threatening at times remained dry adding to the days enjoyment.
As usual there was plenty banter forging the fellowship and friendship within the club.
The tightly contested final was won by Alex Murray & Gordon Dall who narrowly beat Fraser Lawson & John Anderson by one shot.

Outing to Douglas Victoria BC for our Club Social Day.
Saturday 8th June 2024
An excellent day of fellowship and great hospitality was afforded to our members and friends when we travelled to Douglas Victoria BC for our Social Day. We were treated with the usual Douglas hospitality on arrival with a drink , Strawberries dipped in chocolate and other goodies. we played promiscuous bowls, had fun and games followed by an excellent repast provided and served by Tom Kirkland & Robert Barcley. Our thanks goes to President Billy Smith of Douglas Victoria BC and his members for an enjoyable day. The theme for the day was to dress up from a musical film and several of the Douglas members appeared as Nuns (that included the men) from 'Sound of Music. Congratulations to the winner Jim Gibb who beat Alan Caroll 4/3 after an extra end. commiserations to the two losing semi-finalists George Davenport and Eric Baird. The weather on the day held up to give them a dry period. Thanks to all who entered and participated in this competition. It's very appreciated as the game would not be the same without support.

The Walter Jackson Trophy, a Gents singles competition took place on Tuesday 21st May. This Competition was held over from season 2023 and was played between Jim Gibb and Doug. Beattie. It was great game played in the spirit of fellowship and in glorious weather. The winner on the day was Jim Gibb & to him congratulations and to the runner up Doug. Beattie commiserations. Both threw some great bowls throughout the game.

Invitation Mixed Rink's ' Charity ' Tournament
Saturday 11th May 2024
Once again the Club organised and ran this tournament in aid of raising funds towards
Musical Memories - Dementia Choir - Hamilton
which is is an independant, self-funded, singing group for people living with a dementia diagnosis accompanied by a carer, family member or friend. Our members come from all over the Lanarkshire area.

both of whom donated substantial raffle prizes to aid the raising of funds for the group.
The day was enjoyed by 56 Playing Bowlers and a good turnout of spectators on one of the sunniest and warmest days of the year.
The playing tournament consisted of teams from the Club and visiting clubs from around the region. Semi Finalists were teams from Hamilton BC v Coalburn and Hamilton BC v Chryston BC. The final was played in the good spirit of bowling throughout between Chryston and Hamilton. Congratulations to Hamilton BC winning team and commiserations to Chryston BC (who have won this tournament on several occasions in years gone by).

LADIES INVITATION FELLOWSHIP DAY 2024
The Ladies held their annual Invitation Fellowship Day on Friday 19th April 2024 to a sunny day. Below are photographs of all the Ladies who attended. After a few ends of bowls the ladies had an excellent buffet provided by Tom Kirkland. Thanks to the caterers and the Bar Staff, John Robertson who helped make the day enjoyable.
